Patient Triage Frequently Asked Questions Part 2

Do I need to register for online access in order to book an appointment?

You do not need to request online access from the practice.  Our website www.westgatepractice.co.uk can be freely accessed with patients needing to select ‘Contact us online’ from the homepage.

Alternatively, this can be accessed via the NHS App which patients can set up themselves, without the need for any set up/passwords created by the practice.

Should I complete the online form for an acute (same day) condition?

Only queries for a non-urgent GP appointment should be requested using the contact us online triage system.  If your issue requires an on the day assessment, then please ring the surgery on 01543 416633 from 8am.  A member of the patient services team will then sign post you to the most appropriate clinician or service.

If you do submit an online query for an acute (same day) condition, you will be directed to call the practice as above, delaying the care we can offer you.

Will this affect the Shenstone branch surgery?

The new system for booking appointments is being used practice-wide, for both Lichfield and Shenstone patients. However, please be reassured that there is no change to the clinical appointments available at Shenstone.

I can no longer ‘Ask the practice a question’ via the website. Do I need to ring the practice?

The Contact us Online panel on our homepage is capable of dealing with both medical and administrative requests.

If you do not require an appointment, but seek something which requires one of our administrative team to action, this can be submitted by selecting Admin Query.

Examples include requesting a fit note, a test result or referral enquiry.  For all other enquires please select ‘something else’ and submit your query online.

How will I be contacted following my online form submission?

When completing the online form, you are able to select how you wish to be contacted.
