Washing your hands
The surgery is currently receiving a lot of requests for travel cancellation forms from people who want to cancel their trips due to the risk of contracting coronavirus.
Please Click Here for advice from the Foreign Office regarding travelling to specific areas of the world . Depending on your specific travel insurance policy, most insurance companies will cover cancelled trips to countries to which the Foreign Office advise not to travel. No certificate from your GP is required.
In addition, please be advised that the surgery is unable to provide letters or certificates to travel insurance companies supporting requests for refunds by patients who, without any significant medical illness, cancel their travel plans.
New Services for 2020
Care Navigation and Signposting
When booking your appointment (either in person or by telephone), our patient services team will now ask patients some questions to ensure you are directed to the most appropriate clinician or service.
Patients who are signed up to Patient Access, can now book a video consultation online. You will need a video enabled smartphone, tablet or PC with a strong internet connection and the volume turned up on the device. Video consultations should only be used where the issues can be described or shown to the Doctor and you feel comfortable doing so via the video link. Please ensure that the reason for your appointment is appropriate for discussion via a video consultation.
Online Consultations are available through Patient Access - Please contact the Practice if you need to register for this service.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING LONG TERM CONDITION ANNUAL REVIEWS
YOUR ANNUAL REVIEW WILL NOW BE DUE IN YOUR BIRTHDAY MONTH.
A LETTER OF INVITATION WILL NO LONGER BE SENT.
PLEASE CONTACT THE PRACTICE ONE MONTH PRIOR TO YOUR BIRTHDAY TO ALLOW TIME FOR YOUR NECESSARY BLOOD TESTS.
We are currently offering medication review appointments by telephone with the Clinical Pharmacists. You should book these as usual 2 - 4 weeks before the due date even if you have not had a blood test.

Extended Access Appointments - Lichfield and Burntwood GP Network
From the 1st of September 2018, in addition to the Practice’s normal opening hours, you can also book an appointment to see a local clinician in the evenings between 6:30 to 8:00 pm, or on Saturday and Sunday at locations across Lichfield and Burntwood. GP Practices are working together to provide Extended Access appointments to our patients. This means that your appointment may be with a different GP or health professional based in a different location or Practice than you are used to, and some of these appointments are telephone only. These appointments are pre-bookable by contacting the surgery during our normal opening times. When you call, our Patient Services Team will be able to help you to find a suitable appointment.
At The Westgate Practice in Lichfield our doctors and nurses take pride in offering the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. We run many clinics for chronic disease care and offer a wide variety of other medical services such as antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.
Please note, to access our online appointment and prescription services, patients will need to register for this service. Please call into our surgery at your convenience, bringing one form of identification with you - thank you.
At Westgate we offer a text reminder service to all our patients who inform us of their mobile number. This service is used to remind patients of appointments booked and for general clinic dates. Any risk of the messages being intercepted is addressed by minimising the information sent. If you use the online services to update your contact details and do not want to be included in the text reminder service please contact the practice.
We have a variety of leaflets about our services at Westgate Practice, which can be picked up from both our Greenhill and Shenstone sites. If you would like information in an alternative format, for example large print or easy read, or if you need help with communicating with us, for example because you use British Sign Language, please let us know.
