What are online services?
GP online services allow you to access a range of services via your computer, mobile or tablet. Once you have signed up, you will be able to:
- book or cancel appointments online - currently suspended except for E consult & Video consultations
- renew or order repeat prescriptions online
- view parts of your GP record, including information about medication, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results
You can still contact the practice by phone or in person, this is just another option, which other patients have found is more convenient and saves them time. More information including “how to” leaflets and videos of patients and why they are using GP online services are available at www.nhs.uk/gponlineservices
The Westgate Practice currently offers the following on line facilities:
- Patients can book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online.
- Patients can order, view and print a list of their repeat prescriptions or medicines and appliances.
Patient Access - How to Register for on-line Services
To take advantage of the on-line booking services you first need to register for them. Please bring a form of identification e.g. driving licence or bank card to either the Greenhill or Shenstone surgery and we can register you while you wait. Please note that, due to patient confidentiality we are not able to produce registration documents for spouses, partners or children over 16 without their prior written consent.
Patients have access to a summary of their medical record containing information regarding medications, allergies, adverse reactions and vaccinations.
Patient Access - online access to GP medical record
Patients can request to view on-line detailed information from their medical record (i.e. information held in coded form) and test results. Patients must have registered for the on-line booking service and then, to gain this further access, complete a form available from Reception or which can be printed from the link below. All requests for such access will be dealt with on a case by case basis and a GP will judge if it is in the best interests of the patient to allow the access.
We also publicise and promote our online services to our patients through the practice website, practice waiting room leaflets and posters.
